Don't get stuck doing the same thing the same way!
There comes a time in business when you need to sit back and look objectively at how you can improve your systems and how you do day-to-day tasks. It's very easy to get stuck in a trap doing the same thing, the same way because you're so busy working 'in' the business rather than 'on' the business.
You're not alone! We too have been there but we have made it a mission of ours to find new ways to improve our productivity at work.
We've already told you about Last Pass and Asana and now we're going to tell you about DropBox. There's a good chance you've heard of it, but what is it really?
In 2007 a uni student in the US kept forgetting to take his USB to class, so he created an online file to store his work. He then realised it could benefit others and Dropbox was founded.
In a nutshell Dropbox is a home for all your photos, documents, videos, and files. Anything you add to Dropbox will automatically show up on all your computers, phones and the secure Dropbox website — so you can access your stuff from anywhere, anytime. Yes, even on holidays when you just can't help yourself.
We use Dropbox to store ALL our files and have them separated into folders - it looks exactly like the file manager on your desktop computer. The best thing is when you drag files into your Dropbox folder they automatically sync online and to any other computer or mobile devices linked to your account. The application runs in the background and you'll never lose your data as it's backed up online.
What happens if you don't have internet connection or you go offline? Don't panic! The desktop application will still work and the next time you're online it will sync changes just where it left off. Phew....wipe the sweat off your brow.
You can also fully control who has access to your Dropbox. We have individual client folders that our clients can privately and securely share with us their photos and other information. This sharing happens instantly - no more waiting for large files to come through via email!
We recommend that you try DropBox for free and then sign up once you've got the hang of it. The pricing is very affordable, and in no time you'll wonder how you ever got by without it.
